We are currently seeking a Thermal Analyst. This position requires a talented engineer with passion and experience to solve thermal design issues in a cross functional manner. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.
Build and calibrate lumped parameter thermal models using a combination of analysis and experiment
Maximize dynamic performance of the motor to protect against thermal failure modes
Contribute to online motor thermal state estimation and protection in motor control software
Design experiments to characterize and validate thermal estimation software to ensure product delivery
Collaborate with analysts (CFD, mechanical) to incorporate required inputs for developing motor thermal models
Create and maintain excellent documentation of specifications and test results on motor thermal behavior
Support in-field track tests for motor thermal attributes as well as support overall product validation effort on issues relating to motor thermals
Well versed in simulation modeling environment such as Matlab/Simulink
Strong fundamentals in heat transfer, thermodynamics, heat generation mechanisms in motor, testing, and validation
A strong desire to create state-of-the-art engineering products as an integral part of a very capable team.
Knowledge in various cooling technologies pertaining to drive units
CAD modeling experience
Aptitude to quickly learn technical concepts/tools
Strong experience in scripting simulation workflows with varying availability of documentation.
Excellent communication skills in both technical and non-technical environments.
Additional fields of experience (electromagnetics, structural statics/dynamics, material science).
Experience of thermal and mechanical analysis.
Experience with motor control.
Experience of optimization methods and software.
Experience of CAD (and preferably CATIA).
Some knowledge of scripting for simulation process automation.
BS (and preferably MS or PhD) in an electrical engineering discipline.
